Sync Obsidian with iCloud and Google Calendar (CalDAV)

Phone reminders for tasks that stay in Markdown go through CalDAV. iCloud and Google can be two-way. Feishu cannot. This page is the decision and troubleshooting entry. Click-by-click steps stay in Calendar subscription.

Plugin choice: Calendar Pro vs Full Calendar Remastered. Views: Eisenhower, kanban, and timeline.

Short answer

  • Apple devices and phone alerts: iCloud CalDAV, server caldav.icloud.com, an app-specific password.
  • Google Calendar: your own Cloud OAuth desktop client, the CalDAV API enabled, and the sync account added as a test user.
  • Read-only feeds such as TickTick or Outlook: an ICS URL. ICS does not push vault tasks to the phone.
  • Feishu CalDAV is read-only. A PUT returns 409. For alerts, set the default write calendar to iCloud, Google, or DingTalk.
  • LifeOS Pro already includes calendar planning, so you usually skip a separate Calendar Pro license.

Turning off “push to iCloud” keeps the pull and stops local tasks from being written remotely. Completed and cancelled tasks can be removed from the remote calendar when that setting is on. Both switches are documented in the subscription guide.

iCloud

Create an app-specific password in the Apple ID account. In the plugin calendar settings, enable iCloud, set the server to caldav.icloud.com, and choose the default calendar. Do not paste the Apple ID password into the plugin.

Google

  1. Create a Cloud project, an OAuth consent screen, and a desktop client.
  2. Enable the CalDAV API.
  3. While the app stays in testing, add the Google account you will actually connect. Otherwise Connect fails.
  4. Enable Google Calendar in the plugin and connect.
  5. “This app isn’t verified” is expected for a personal OAuth client. The doc says to continue through Advanced because the client is yours.

Field order lives in the Google section of Calendar subscription.

Feishu and other CalDAV hosts

Generate a CalDAV username and password in the Feishu desktop calendar settings. The plugin server is https://caldav.feishu.cn. Events can be read into Obsidian. Tasks cannot be written back.

DingTalk, WeCom, Tencent Meeting, and QQ Mail addresses are in the same doc. Extra servers use “Add CalDAV configuration”.

When something fails

  • Google auth fails: the test user is not the account you are about to sign in with.
  • Feishu will not accept writes: that is the read-only limit, not a retry.
  • The phone never shows a new vault task: you are on a one-way ICS feed, or the push switch is off.

This page does not state a sync success rate.
