title: LifeOS Skill and the CLI: agent rules for the vault description: Five skills in one bundle. Install with @life-os/cli or npx skills add. OPC is separate. Existing AGENTS.md is not overwritten. @life-os/cli 0.1.4 on 2026-10-14.
LifeOS Skill and the CLI: agent rules for the vault
Claude Code, Codex, and other agents can edit Markdown without knowing where today's journal or a project index lives. LifeOS Skill loads those paths and safety rules for the current vault. It works with Obsidian plus LifeOS, and with Aino. The product page remains LifeOS Skill. This page is the install and the boundary.
Choosing a CLI inside Obsidian is DeepAsk CLI.
Short answer
- The bundle has five skills:
lifeos(shared config and safety),lifeos-today(today and periodic review),lifeos-board(Workflow / PARA boards),lifeos-onboarding(setup and migration),lifeos-content(notes, attachments, AI Wiki, dashboards). - An agent loads only the slice the current task needs.
- OPC is a separate skill. Do not treat the company dashboard as part of these five.
- If
AGENTS.md,SOUL.md, orSTYLE.mdalready conflict, the installer reports the conflict and does not overwrite them.MEMORY.mdis written only when you explicitly ask to remember something. - On 2026-10-14 the latest
@life-os/clion npm is 0.1.4, MIT. Check the registry.
Install
From the vault root:
Or from GitHub, selecting all five skills the repository advertises:
Then tell the agent: Check my lifeos configuration.
If a bundle is already installed:
A later install updates all five, backs up locally modified managed files by domain, and migrates an old single-skill layout into the bundle. It does not downgrade a newer bundle. DeepAsk's Skills panel can install the same bundle. A failed install rolls back; do not treat a partial write as success.
What it will and will not do
Documented jobs include appending to today's journal, checking a task, creating a project from the template, writing .AI.md for a project or area, full-text search, a weekly review, tags on a sidecar Markdown file next to an attachment (the binary stays untouched), and an HTML dashboard beside a theme note.
Setup recommends Memos, IPO, GTD, PARA, then OPC, previews the tree, and writes only after you confirm. Memos does not bulk-move old files into journals. PARA uses Archives when an old file cannot be classified. Uncertain links, name clashes, and unclear files stay put. Listing an attachment identifies the path and media type. It does not mean the agent has read the DOC, PPT, audio, or video body.
Migration into OPC uses the separate OPC skill.
DeepAsk and MCP
Install the Skill first when the agent should follow LifeOS folders. Use DeepAsk when the question should run inside Obsidian under that plugin's CLI safety table. The built-in MCP server at http://127.0.0.1:51377/mcp (bearer token = activation code) is the compatibility path, not the first install. Obsidian Mobile cannot run the Node CLI.
The Skill does not include a DeepAsk license, a LifeOS Pro license, or model credits.
Next step
Install into a test vault or a backup, ask the agent to read the configuration, then append one line to today's journal. The repository is quanru/lifeos-skill. Chinese: LifeOS Skill 与 CLI.
