Open Ghostty here from the Finder toolbar

Ghostty Here puts a button on the Finder toolbar. Click it and a Ghostty window opens in the folder you are viewing. You can also drop a file or a folder onto the app. Install Ghostty first.

Ghostty already has Services such as “New Ghostty Window Here”. Those stay available. This utility is the toolbar button and the drop target, not the only way to open Ghostty.

Install

  1. Install Ghostty at /Applications/Ghostty.app. The original check was Ghostty 1.3.1, which exposes the AppleScript window API.
  2. Download Ghostty Here 1.0.0. The README records ZIP SHA-256 e14ec1bc1a4b162bd8f8190eff4310b0266c61ab6130f49a3e8180daeea75c19.
  3. Unzip, and move Ghostty Here.app into Applications.
  4. Hold Command and drag the app onto a Finder window toolbar.
  5. Click the button. The first launch asks for permission to control Finder and Ghostty.

If no Finder window is open, the app uses your home directory. Dropping a file opens the file’s parent folder. When Ghostty is already running, the app adds a window. When it is not, it launches Ghostty and keeps the window for the target directory.
